Silver linings

When a big part of our lives erode into
unrecognisable chaos
Fear erupts, and I want to escape
I feel my soul withering by the minute,
Unnurtured,
There is no escape, my mind plays
the same melody over n over
Willing me to understand
All I know is that,
Fear cannot be the leader of my soul

Though some nights be filled with tears,
Each new dawn will be met with gratitude
An open heart willing to learn things of the soul,
Remembering that as much as I am deeply flawed
I am in possession of folds and layers of beauty
As much as I have brought anguish and despair
So have I joy, laughter, love and tenderness

A descendant of Sarah, Ruth, Esther and Tamar
All women of exceeding courage and bravery
I will borrow a leaf from each one of them
Allow hope, courage and kindness to take the lead
As I live up to my ancestors' prophecy of me
And silver linings.
